Inspection
PEM utilizes a highly trained Quality Assurance staff, and modern, state of the art inspection equipment, to inspect incoming gearbox components for reverse engineering and manufacturing purposes. With the use of continuous, scheduled inspections, our Quality Assurance Department ensures that all product produced at PEM meets all of the requirements set forth by our Engineering Department and/or the customer. Our inspection equipment, which includes an extensive variety of measurement devices and two large capacity, certified Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM’s), are all calibrated on a strict schedule, and are all traceable to the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST).

Field Service
If requested, we will go onsite providing you with an engineer, lead assembler, and lead machinist to perform failure analysis and repairs. We can provide this service for all of our units as well as those made by other manufacturers.

Repair
We have the manufacturing and engineering capacity to repair all gearbox designs. Each gearbox we receive, the case is sandblasted, all components are visually inspected as well as a multitude of other documented inspections by our Quality Assurance staff, and then all bearings and seals are replaced. If a catastrophic failure occurred we can analyze the gearbox and identify all modes of failure, therefore we can provide the proper corrective action. All gearboxes have to undergo a 5 hour no load test (up to 150% load test upon request), then primed before shipping or painted to your specifications.

Surveys
We offer our services to visit your plant and identify all gearboxes and what their use is for. We will create an excel booklet that will contain all the information of the units as well as what the prescribed preventative procedures. In cases of obsolete units, we will list a recommendation on the most suitable replacement unit.

Exchange Programs
We offer exchange programs for gearboxes in critical applications were extended periods of downtime are unacceptable. A back up gearbox is stored in our warehouse ready to ship to you at a predetermined time to exchange with the one you have in service to be sent back to us for repair or maintenance of the bearings and other wearable internal components. Thus preventing catastrophic failure that would greatly increase repair costs and downtime of your operations.

Reverse Engineering
With our highly skilled Engineering staff and CMM Operators, using two large capacity, certified Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM’s) and the latest Quindos and PC-DMIS software, we can recreate any damaged, broken, or obsolete case, gear, or component part. By facilitating these resources, we can reverse engineer and produce nearly any part or assembly, from a drop-in replacement to a complete rebuild of the gearbox.
